Artist Statement
At the start of my creation through printmaking, I focused on concepts surrounding nature, along with surrealistic and imaginative habitats. Most recently, my artworks have followed an updated theme more personally focused on nostalgia and the value of memories. I became more immersed in the yearning for the moments from youth, and how that reflects how I represent myself in the modern day. I want to create based on my own memories, as well as actively keeping awareness of healthy and hurtful ways nostalgia affects us as individuals. I see prints as an analogy of nostalgia, recreating an image from a matrix multiple times to produce an image that may be slightly different between states or limited editions. Or perhaps trying to recreate a print made from a master printmaker. The same way one might wish to recreate the idea or feeling of a memory, but will never be as valuable as the original moment in time.
